According to the Alzheimer’s Association, nearly 5.7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease in the United States. With an aging population, that number is expected to increase to 14 million in 2050.
Alzheimer’s is one of many causes for dementia and responsible for an estimated 50 percent of dementia cases, which have been estimated at 24 million worldwide by the Centers for Disease Control. It is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States.
